FLOWER SHOP

Was at Melbourne recently. We went shopping on Chapel Street, it's about 15-20 minute tram ride from Flinders Street. Pretty much what I did was walk in and out of majority of the stores on the street. I probably skipped like four or something.

But my favourite store on the entire street was a fruit and vegetable shop. I'm not even kidding you. I walked past the store and literally stopped in my tracks. The front half of the shop displayed flowers. The cheapest flowers you have ever seen. Bouquet of roses for $6, no lies. I killed myself on Valentine's Day trying to find roses, the only ones I came across were $60 or above. Even bouquets for $138 .

There were other bunches for $3, or two for $5. I was in love. I adore flowers with all my heart, and this shop made my day. So next time you're on Chapel Street p
lease go. You'll love it too, I swear!

SUMMER

I just realised today that summer is nearly over, there's like two weeks left! What happened? I actually realised when I walked into Sandy Bay to say hi to friends, and asked one of them where their swimmers kept and she replied "we don't have any". I got the same response at numerous other stores as well, but it didn't happen to sink in that summer was over then.

I think it's funny that I only started bathers (and yes I do call it a bathing suit LOL) shopping only last week. My other ones don't fit me anymore, their either too small or strecthed out. I'm also kind of glad that I've managed to avoid it, because I don't like the cut of bikini briefs. For me, trying to find the perfect bikini bottoms is a major challenge which I never enjoy.

But back to my main point, time flies by too quickly for my liking. Before we know it we'll be celebrating NYE again.

SLIP SLOP SLAP

Stay sun smart during this heat wave people! You shouldn't need to think twice about sunscreen, covering up and also wearing a hate while you're out in the sun. You don't want to get sun burnt, the feeling is quite awful.

Also, remember to hydrate as often as you can. Don't do it all at once either. Drink water regularly throughout the day. If you have to force yourself, drink energy drinks such as Gatorade. Or add a bit of cordial, or a lemon/lime slice to your water.

With all these people dying due to the heat (obviously because they weren't sun smart) I've become quite worried. I was outside in the heat on Friday for about 30-40 minutes, and that was enough to make me dizzy. I was wearing sunscreen and a hat as well! So please, please, please be careful and take care of your selves during this heat.

DRESSMAKING

About two weeks ago I adamantly decided that I was going to read the sewing machine user guide and teach myself how to sew. So I worked at it for five hours. I know how to use the machine and all, and the guide explains various handy techniques as well. But I don't understand what to do measurement wise. Like when I was in year 7 and I made a pair of shorts, I remember there was something about measurements but I can't recall what exactly my teacher said. So I came to the conclusion that I need an adjustable dressmakers mannequin.

This is the beginning of a whole new era (lol). I just need to discover more places to buy fabrics rather than Spotlight and Lincraft. I did go to Spotlight though, and suprisingly I found a few nice prints.

I have so many ideas that I want to try out. Can't wait til I find a mannequin. xx

HAIRSTYLING

I can't remember what I was looking for, but not that long ago I stumbled across a website with 49 new hair ideas for 2009.

Here a few of my favourites:

Braid a ponytail hair extension that matches your hair color and pin it at the nape of your neck. Wrap the braid around your crown, pinning the ends at your nape, then let your hair hang loose or twist it into a low knot directly above the braid.

To create this voluminous shape, spritz volumizer on damp roots, then blow-dry hair straight and part it in the middle. Lightly tease your roots, then loosely sweep hair back into a low chignon, cupping the sides over your ears for an elegant touch.

Mimic the effect by scrunching large sections of damp hair in your hands as you move a blow-dryer in circles around your head (hold it about six inches away). This fluffs the hair rather than matting it down. Another trick: Rub your crown lightly, like it's a baby's belly, for a few seconds to create slept-in texture.

For an elegant change, start by creating a deep side part, then take a two-inch section of hair at the center of the hairline (where bangs would be) and roll it away from the face around a medium-size hot roller. While that cools, wrap just the ends of the rest of your hair around a half-inch-barrel curling iron so they flick out. Take out the hot roller, guide the front section into an S shape, and mist all over with aerosol hair spray.

MAXI DRESSES

My absolute favourite thing about this summer as been maxi dresses! I don't really know how to explain why I love them so much. I guess on the right person they can look so graceful, almost as if you're floating. But that also depends on the length of the dress.

They're so versitle in cuts and the patterns. They look nice from strapless to thick straps. But it is quite easy to wear a bad maxi dress. Those dresses that don't quite seem to fall nicely on the wearer, or the print is just gastly. I have an orange one like that, but my plan has always been to dye it black. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I own four maxi dresses right now. But there are so many more I'd like to have. I want a few tye-dye ones, which I also want to make myself. I'll post the pictures later, when it gets cooler in my room. xx

KANYE WEST

Went and saw Kanye West live last December with a whole group of people. I don't really have much to say about this. I'm not a massive fan of Kanye West, but I respect him some what as an artist. He tries new things, things he shouldn't be trying, which majority of artists refuse to do. And for that alone he gets praised. He can bring out a horrible album, but he'll never be judged for it, people will only see him venturing into new territory.

The concert was nice. Yes, I know you don't call a concert "nice", but honestly that's all I can say. I had a good time. It was a pity we were seperated from each other, no thanks to ticketek (but that's a long story).

Scribe and Nas opened the line up, and hands down Scribe was better. He realy got the crowd started. I don't listen to Nas, he doesn't delve into my style of music, but others who do like him said he was great. Pretty much all night I was waiting for Kanye West to play "Love Lockdown", and it was the last song he performed. Except it took him three tries to finish the song. So he starts, and then stops his band and tells them to do it again. The band restarts, and then Kanye tells them to keep playing he'll be right back. The band pretty much does the whole song, and then Kanye decides to reappear. Apparently he was meant to have his last costume change just before this song, but everything in the back got packed up. He wasn't very happy about this. ut thankfully he finally did the song. YAY!

APPLE

I was complaining last November about how my charger sparked and stopped working one day. I didn't have access to my laptop for nearly a month, and it was the worst thing. I knew I had to save for a charger as well, but I wanted to buy shoes instead lol. I kept telling myself that I'll use my home computer until I get more shifts at work. But then late November, for my birthday, Prabs; Kiran and Saranpaal got me a brand new charger!

It was so awesome! Until of course my laptop crashed LOL. So back to square one, except this time it'll cost me way more to get my laptop fixed.

IF ONLY

Andy sent me this ages ago, just recently started blogging again. I'm going through everything I wanted to blog about last year...

Adeliade man, David Thorne, claims that he attempted to pay an overdue utility bill with a drawing of a spider. He drew the picture, and emailed it to an employee at the company claiming that the drawing was worth the amount of the overdue bill.

THEEEE WARDROBE!

Yes it is DONE!

The wardrobe was probably completed about a week and a half after I complained about it only being half done the 15th of November. It's amazing. So much more space, which I have managed to crowd up very fast lol.

The day it was completed I had so much fun moving my things out of my brother's room and back into mine. But it did take me a while before I had stored and sorted things out the way I wanted. Actually just two weeks ago I bought more boxes to store things away in. And I still need to buy a space saver or two to pack away winter things properly. Also, now that I've decided to start sewing I'm going to need to find storage solutions for anything I plan to buy.
My main problem now is that I'm running out of room for my shoes. I don't actually know what I'm going to do now lol. Maybe under the bed? Might get another one of those plastic bins and store my shoes in there. I could probably store other things under there, like all arts and crafts related objects.

This is the left side of my wardrobe, with the shelves and the attachable shelf thing (the black one). It's held up with velcro straps, and has subby sections. LOL
Most left door (my wardrobe is a three door wardrobe). Hooks for bags and belts.
The last door. This part doesn't have a shelf at the top. That was removed to accomodate for two railings, whereas the other two door sections have the original shelf at the top.
I didn't take a picture of my wardrobe before the remodelling, but my siblings and I have the same wardrobes in general so I took a picture of my brothers. That's pretty much what it looked like before. One railing all the way through and then a shelf at the top.

METRO STATION

Yes, it has been a while. Too long. I've been meaning to blog this whole time, I promise I have, but I've just been so ridiculously lazy. But here I am. I've written a list of things that I wanted to blog about last year but never did, so here goes.

Last year early October I went to go see Metro Station live at Roundhouse with Tash. Majority of people there were teenagers, plenty even with parental chaperones. There's a quite awkward feeling when you're surrounded by 14-15 year olds. Mainly because you feel you're sticking out like a sore thumb, when as a matter of fact you're probably not.

The concert itself was fun. Metro Station sound completely different live compared to their album. Their sound is more grunge-er live, whereas on their album they have a strong pop-y feel. That was a pleasant surprise really, the grunge suited their image a whole lot more. Pop punk bands aren't really my thing either, so I was generally happy about that. On the down side, they only played for like 40 minutes. They have the one album, no new songs or covers. I believe they could of sang covers of songs that inspired their own music. Not only would that have filled some time, but it's a look into what drove their style. That was a major disappointment, it really felt like it was over before it began.

I think people need to get over Trey Cyrus, he's only famous because of his sister. The lead vocalist, Mason, kept saying his name and people would go crazy. But in true fact, he'd be nothing without Miley. Trey at one stage said if someone took their top off he'd take his off, and a girl apparently threw her bra at him. I missed that though, Tash told me about 30 seconds after it happened.

The guy on the keyboard, Blake, was my favourite member of the band that night. He was in his own world. Grooving to the music at his own pace, swaying side to side. Tash and I were definitely well entertained by him.

A fight even broke out at the end, over a towel I think.

Despite that I had fun talking to Tash. You know you can always have fun with that girl, so all in all I had a decent night. xx
