
This Manhattan coffee shop, D'Espresso, is a library quite literally flipped on to it's side. Of course it's a design gimmick, but one that makes sense with the bookish patrons that come in to D'Espresso, and will also become a recognisable signature.
If you look at the above picture closely, you can see that the "floor" is the left-hand side wall with a dark hardwood.
Also, in the above image you can see that the lights are affixed horizontally, giving the illusion that gravity is having it's way with the room. Oh and if you're worried about stepping on books, don't fret the books are actually tiles printed with sepia-toned photos of bookshelves. It's all an Alice in Wonderland-esque sense that the room has been suddenly upended.
